Job Title:     English Language Instructor 
Supervisor:  EL Program
& Training Manager

Unit/Project:          English Language Program
Hours:         As Assigned, (approximately 40-80 hours per month) 
Venue:        Amideast classrooms and training spaces in country or other locations; online training when needed

Position Summary:

Amideast/Iraq English language courses are attended by adult learners from across all sectors, with a wide range of language development needs. Amideast English courses include those for public customers as well as corporate and private clients. Classes are held at Amideast’s office in Erbil, client training sites, and online with courses from beginning to advanced proficiency levels. Instructors are encouraged to be innovative and creative in their classrooms by incorporating activities that have all students actively participating and engaged. The English Language Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering high quality English language instruction based on assigned courses. The EL Instructor should have a team attitude, be flexible and adaptable, and care about his/her students’ language development. 

Responsibilities:
•        Provide quality English language instruction for all assigned courses, tailored to individual student needs tailored to either in-person or online classes;
•        Prepare relevant lesson plans based on curriculum goals and content;
•        Plan and share supplemental materials needed to enhance courses;
•        Follow the designated instructional plan and schedule for the course;
•        Complete and submit teacher’s attendance and course log daily;
•        Provide feedback to supervisors when necessary;
•        Correct homework, exams, projects and other assignments in a timely fashion;
•        Conduct student conferences if necessary; 
•        Assist in EL program planning, assessment creation, and curriculum development;
•        Participate in weekly department meetings and professional development sessions, based on prior notice;
•        Correspond and engage with students outside of class as needed

Qualifications:
Required:
•        University degree
•       
MA in TESOL, applied linguistics, second language acquisition or a related field, or a certificate in TESOL (equivalent to CELTA)
•        Minimum 1-2 years of English language teaching experience
•        Native or near-native English speaker
•        Demonstrated professionalism

Preferred:
•        Experience in the Middle East world
•        Knowledge of different languages
•        Experience with test preparation, curriculum development, and/or assessment.
