POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for processing financial transactions on a wide range of expense and revenue activities. Under supervision of the Finance and Accounting Manager, the Officer will be responsible for Sousse office accounting entries and will backstop the Tunis Finance team in their absence and will provide a variety of accounting support tasks as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconcile revenue transactions daily, ensuring accuracy and consistency, while coordinating with the customer service team to verify and collect funds
  • Oversee accounts receivable by monitoring aging balances and ensuring timely contract collections
  • Prepare weekly bank reconciliations and work closely with the Finance Manager to promptly identify and resolve any discrepancies
  • Process weekly refunds for eligible clients and manage petty cash records, including conducting physical counts and maintaining accurate reconciliations
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of all invoices on a weekly basis and ensure that payments are processed with the necessary documentation and authorization from the Finance Manager
  • Prepare vouchers and sales orders, entering accurate data into the Deltek Costpoint system to maintain up-to-date financial records
  • Conduct monthly book inventory to ensure all transactions and balances are accounted for accurately
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager on monthly balance sheet reconciliations, rent/insurance amortizations, and monthly closing procedures to ensure compliance with financial standards
  • Assist the Finance Manager with annual audits by preparing necessary documents, responding to inquiries, and resolving any issues related to financial reporting
  • Submit all payments and receivables to the Finance Manager for review and approval before proceeding, in order to uphold strict disbursement controls
  • Scan, archive, and maintain a comprehensive filing system for all financial documents, ensuring accessibility and compliance with record-keeping standards. Maintain financial records in compliance with policies and highlight unusual transactions
  • Prepare tax certificates and other financial documentation
  •  Collaborate closely with the Sousse Office Manager to ensure the accuracy and proper follow-up of G&A costs and assist with various tasks based on business needs
  • Other duties as assigned according to business needs

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and practices, typically acquired through experience, with a preference for US GAAP standards.  
  • Minimum of two years' accounting experience
  • Good knowledge of local tax legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with good knowledge of Excel
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English, as well as French and Arabic
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate high attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and excellent organizational capabilities
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, thriving with minimal supervision
  • Quickly adapt to and utilize specific accounting software and its related modules
  • Capable of delivering clear presentations and responding effectively to queries from administration, bookkeeping teams, and auditors

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (either on a full time, temporary, or hybrid basis).
