POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Communications Assistant will support communications and additional activities as part of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program administered by Amideast. The primary program supports students from the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region while studying at the master’s degree level in the US fully funded by the Department of State. Additional programming includes training and development for visiting scholars and alumni activities for grantees who have completed their programs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Media Management
Manage social media, and other digital platforms, including the planning, creating, editing, and uploading of video, posts, and graphics relevant to prospective and current participants and alumni
Manage membership and monitor activity across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, blog sites, and Fulbright-specific applications
Track social media activity, analytics, and engagement. Provide data for periodic reporting requirements
Solicit high-quality success stories and images from current grantees and alumni for use across platforms and materials
Assist in review and update of all print and digital materials to ensure compliance with branding guidelines
Manage day-to-day content updates to the website, under the direction of the Communications Officer

Content Management
Create and design graphics for print and online use 
Assist in planning, recording and editing video interviews 
Support the communications officer with video editing
Offer communications support to the Fulbright team such as graphic design for specific recurring or one-off campaigns

Data Management
Manage internal and external lists, data sets and grantee information. Maintain data tracking elements on a periodic basis

Program Management
Assist with virtual programming as requested
Attend student workshops to solicit stories from current participants

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required
A BA/BS degree in international affairs, arts, marketing, communications, or a related field and a year of experience with social media
Experience managing social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Sprout Social, etc.)
Proven writing and copyediting skills with the ability to convey ideas in a creative and clear style
Experience with graphic design, including Canva is required
Experience or interest in digital community management
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word and Excel is required
Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Dependable team player able to perform detail-oriented tasks
Interested in a career working in public diplomacy, international education, communications, and/or exchange programs

Preferred 
Photo and video editing skills preferred
A basic understanding of updating webpages, experience with WordPress is highly desirable
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (on a hybrid basis).
